Puddles, damp marks, raindrops are all marks that rain has passed through. It has come and gone but has left signs of its life giving force behind. Created by nature, these forms are evaporated by the sun and eventually disappear.
Tibetan monks make mandalas out of sand; they spend hours and days on it, tapping each grain into place with a special metal tool. When they are completed, they are swept up during a ceremony as a symbol of the impermanence of life. Mandalas also represent the wholeness of mind and body and are used for meditation.
